I would just like to say that it's nice to see the department doing so well these days. When I was a member back in 77 it was a much smaller group and the equipment was no way as neat after all we had the snorkel (flag pole fixer). Have a safe year!

Just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for hosting the Kids event yesterday. My son had a great time and really enjoyed seeing the fire trucks. His Uncle is a volunteer in Setauket and his Great Grandfather the the first Fire Chief in Breezy Point NY. Thank you for all that you do in our community.

Thank You All for continuing in the teadition. My father, Vernon E Jenner was Fire Comissioner years ago (in the 60s) when we lived in Oakland. I grew up in Oakland back then and have fond memories of Oakland, the Oakland Academy, the schools... One old buddy that I have lost touch with is David Spears who lived up on Long Hill Road. If you know him, please give him a shout for me.

Just wanted to say thank you for all you do in putting your lives on the line without question - for total strangers. It takes special kinds of ppl to do what you do - you are born with the calling - my brother always raced his bicycle to the firehouse, burning rubber all the way up the street. Now he is one of your Captains. Proud of you Tim, I really am.

Nice to hear boys looking up the hero firefighters

My son had a very exciting day with the Oakland Fire Department at the Safety Town Camp in heights elementary school. George is now interested in becoming a fireman after spending the morning with his new buddy fire chief Bob Knapp. Thank you so much for taking your time to show him the great opportunity in becoming a fireman. Than you once again for all the care Chief Knapp showed my son George.

I grew up in Oakland when I lived there between 1961 and 1972. Back then I wanted to be a Firefighter but was too young. I can remember as a kid chasing the Fire Engines on my bicycle as they raced by running lights and sirens. After we moved to Florida in 72 where I went to High School from 1972-1976. In 1978 I started my career as a Firefighter with the Florida Division Of Forestry as a Wildland Firefighter. In 1981 I went to work for the Lehigh Acres Fire Dept where I worked until I retired in 2009 after 30 years in the Fire Service. I currently live in Eastern Tennessee. You have a real nice website and some real nice well kept equipment. Some day I'll go back for a visit.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the site and the opportunity to see a few pictures of my father. He loved the department nearly as much as he loved his family. Thank you for the walk down memory lane.

My Dad Ed Costigaqn was a firefighter and past chief. I remember the many nights that the "box" would go off and off he went,Then to come home and go to work in the city. I have very found memories of the OFD, from picnics to the carnivals. Joe Gallup gave me my first job! Congradulations on 100 years! I wish I could go back and celebrate with you.
