On Friday, September 23rd four members of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department graduated from Firefighter One training along with other members of Class 508. The ceremony was held at the Bergen County Academies and was officiated by Chief Lawrence Rauch. In attendance were Bergen Country Executive James J. Tesesco III, Bergen County Freeholder Maura DeNicola and New Jersey State Assemblywoman Marlene Caride, who was also the guest speaker.
The Invocation and Benediction was delivered by Oakland’s Chaplain Russell Stammer. Assistant Chiefs Vincent Dies and Dave Hutsebaut presented the graduation certificates to Tyler Dies, Justin Quiles, Sean Torpey and Makenzi Vulgaris.
A celebration was shared by the graduates and their families and fellow firefighters back at Company One. Congratulations to all four members – your fellow brother and sister firefighters are very proud of you!
